Sitting in his small house in West Egg next to the famous Gatsby Mansion, Nick Carraway struggles to find his own life while cluttered by others fantasies.
A few weeks ago, I drove past this peculiar distribution of sizing in houses and thought about how odd it must be to live in the much smaller house.
Last night, at a party at the imfamous house of Gatsby that i was...well i showed up to, I had the pleasure to meet up with the owner of the house next door, Nick Carraway. I asked a few questions during a short conversation with him.
Q: How long have you been living next to Mr. Gatsby?
A: I don't know, only a few weeks, if that.
Q: Is this your first party of his that you have attended?
A: No, I come to nearly every party he hosts.
Q: I know that some people, well most people do not have an actual invitation, do you?
A: Yes, do you?
Q: Well, um, that isn't important. Do you feel, out of place in the whole scheme of West Egg?
A: To be honest, yes. You look at my house next to Gatsby's and laugh, how can that not make me feel out of place.
Q: Do you ever meet up with Gatsby outside of these parties?
A: I barely see him here! Yes, we have lunch in the city on occasion.
Q: What do you do for a living Nick?
A: I am in the bonds business.
