Director Morgan Spurlock made his name with a documentary, Super Size Me, that targeted the fast food industry.
It’s hard to avoid the conclusion he’s sold out by making a movie eulogising the fast music industry.
This film is uncompromisingly upbeat and on message; no word of criticism of Cowell or the group is allowed on screen.
But creatively Spurlock makes a good job of filming the group’s O2 concert in 3D, and his fly-on-the-wall style of film-making captures the group’s high spirits, natural good looks and sheer likeability in a way that’s a good deal more attractive than similar attempts by others to capture the appeal of U2 and the Jonas Brothers.
