Some ten years ago, emcees E1 (born Elijah Williams) and Tone da Unk (born John Clark) were spitting rhymes in their Cincinnati, Ohio neighborhood of Avondale mainly as a hobby under the name of Big Face Hustlers. About five years ago their neighborhood buddy Gap joined the two them and thus Deep Thawt was born.

Today, Deep Thawt is concentrating on promoting their single “Cincinnati Fresh” and finishing up production on their first-ever full length cd.

“Our rhymes are about life and other people’s stories”, say group spokesman, E1, “We also throw in a little bit of fantasy”, he continues. When queried as to whether rappers are to be looked at as role models or just entertainers, he replies, “Rappers should be both”.

One gets the impression that this is a say what you mean, and mean what you say outfit. The music of Deep Thawt is fresh, thought provoking and a bit laid back, with a definite affinity for East Coast rap leanings, but not one to be labeled, “We have something for everyone”, says E1.

Influenced by rappers like The Notorious BIG, Jay-Z and Big L, the group also is very conscious of the business side of the music game. “I like some of the moves that Jay Prince and Russell Simmons have made in establishing their brands”, states E1.

With the support of their hood and several years of experience under their belt, Deep Thawt is ready to spread their brand of rhymes to the entire world, and by all means they plan to keep it fresh.
