While growing up in Southside Jamaica, Queens, Devon “Young Pretty” Davis

quickly learned to navigate the ins and outs of his environment. Exposed to the art

of grinding by a hard-working mother, he immediately picked up this trait and hit the

streets. At just 11 years old, he began making a living on the block where he developed

a knack for music. At the time, it seemed everybody in Queens, New York, was either

talking about music or creating it so it didn’t take long for Young Pretty to become an

artist, especially after hanging around his cousin who owned a record company. Since

then, he has been on a mission to become a household name.

In 2007, he dropped his first mixtape “Get to the Money” Vol 1, which was

hosted by DJ Super Star Jay. At the beginning of this year, “Real Nigga Syndrome” Part

1 released, garnering a heavy buzz from industry heads and fans alike. Young Pretty

credits much of his success so far to his “Real Nigga Syndrome” movement. To him,

RNS is about being authentic in all situations; a concept that everyone can relate to

regardless of a person’s sex or background. Over the years, this authenticity and his talent

landed him on the road with major acts such as Nas, Young Buck, Lil Scrappy and Topa

Da Lyne.

“I’m just like every other person trying to make something good out of something

bad,” he says. Using these past moments as inspiration and his family as motivation,

Young Pretty will keep working towards his dream of becoming number one. Next up is

his EP, which is scheduled to release in the coming weeks.
