Yung Dreal was born JaVierre Marshall in Fort Benning, GA on June 11, 1988. Dreal grew up in the rough streets of Columbus on Brown Ave with 15 people in one household. Growing up in GA, the rappers inspiration came from his mother who was working two full time jobs to take care of him and his older brother. Split from his father at the age of 7, Dreal moved to Raeford, NC at the age of 9 to live with his mother and stepfather. Dreal began to get involved with basketball with the dreams of getting his grandmother out the hood. At the age of 15, the MC had his first son born into the world. The situation made Dreal grow up fast, because he did not want to mistreat a little boy that did not ask to be here. Faced with violence and adversity in school, he continued to play basketball with the expectations of moving on to the college level. Lived the college life for a year and returned back to Raeford, NC to take care of his son. At the age of 19, Dreal picked up freestyling and begin to take his music seriously with a group known as U-Tube Ent. The group released a series of mixtapes and attracted a lot of listeners around the area of Fayetteville, NC in 2008-09. The group consisted of Tweezy, Mr. U-Tube, J-Murk, Mz Lenee, and Tone. Eventually the group broke up, which left Dreal standing alone in 2010. Faced with adversity the Emcee did not want to live the street life with the chance of being lost in the system for trying to take care of his family. He began to take his solo career even more serious when his childhood friend was locked up for a life time sentence for murder. Over the last past year Dreal has been determined to climb to the top with his music, but he has not been able to network to secure a record deal. The rapper will not give up, because he refuses to let another dream hinder him from being what he is destined to become. In 2011, he released the smash hit “We Just Came to Party” which has attracted listeners around the world. Dreal is beginning to come into his own and he is not showing any signs of stopping.
