What was it like growing up as a
Cape Verdean?
can understand Spanish, but I am not
fluent in it.
My parents and my two older brothers were born in Brava, Cape Verde
and I was the only one who was born
in the U.S.. My parents are extremely hardworking, ambitious and cultural individuals. They have always
taught me to work hard for everything that you have or want. G

up in a Cape Verdean household really taught me to do everything a young
lady should know how to do to take
care of her family and home such as
cooking, cleaning, etc. They have always been hard on me to get things
done and to become better as a person. It has made me a strong, humble, positive person who is responsible and independent. My family has
always been the most supportive and
encouraging for me in everything I do
and they have always pushed me to
become better and to always keep on
improving in whatever I choose to do.
