About Tulip Time
In 1935, Pella pulled off its first Tulip Time in two weeks flat— no real tulips, no parades, no food vendors. A local cabinetmaker built 125 wooden standins, a few residents dug out their heirloom Dutch costumes, and the town threw a one-day festival that drew enough visitors to make them do it all over again the next year. Nine decades later, Tulip Time has grown into a three-day celebration with 300,000 + tulips, nightly entertainment, parades, and hundreds of volunteers keeping the tradition alive. Not bad for a two-week plan.
The 2026 Tulip Time magazine is a product of the Oskaloosa Herald.
