TUHSD rolls out professional development modules in Blackboard in the second semester.

During the second semester, the district professional development committee and curriculum and instruction staff implemented professional development modules in Blackboard Learn (Bb) to supplement what teachers have been doing in their professional learning communities (PLCs).

With the use of district-created and other professionally-shared resources, the curriculum and instruction team was able to embed content items in each of the PD modules. Third quarter modules included introductions to digital citizenship and technology standards integration, common formative assessments, and instructional planning. Fourth quarter modules included an overview on high stakes assessment methodologies and AzMERIT item specifications, while continuing the process of creating common formative assessments.

Utilizing Blackboard Learn as the digital tool to implement professional development provides teachers and administrators with a venue to share and access PD resources, collaborate virtually via discussion boards, and digitally submit common formative assessments with the opportunity of receiving administrative feedback.

Throughout the semester, teachers were able to log onto the learning management system, interact with its features, and see how online learning activities may be used in the classroom.
