CLAIRE DOWSON

Magazinein/January, 2012 3

Claire looks for patterns in Nature, especially in her immediate surroundings - patterns in sea, sky and in wild and garden foliage and flowers. She expresses these patterns in great detail in her paintings, concentrating on the foreground in landscapes or simply showing close-up views in her own inimitable style which almost borders on the abstract. Whether she is working in oils or watercolour, her aim is to experiment with and develop ways of using colour. "I want people to be amazed at my colours. I want to stop them in their tracks", she says.
