Community Consultation
On the 10th of March 2020, a meeting was conducted between Children Action for Development (CAD) and the school leaders at Tual Lvieng Primary School. The objectives of the meeting were to:
• Inform the School Director (SD) and School Support Committee (SSC) about the construction of 4 classrooms
and 2 toilets
• Discuss the school and community contribution to the process of the upcoming construction with SD and SSC
• Discuss the price and select the builders
Mr. Thy Bunrith, Executive Director of CAD, informed the meeting participants about the upcoming construction of the new school building at Tual Lvieng Primary School consisting of four new classrooms and two new toilets.
The group went on to discuss the contribution from the school and community towards building costs. As a result of the meeting, the Director, Vice Director, and Secretary of Tual Lvieng Primary School and the School Support Committee were all very happy to have a new building and they agreed to raise 7-10% of the building costs of the school. They also agreed that once the project is completed, the school and community will be responsible for helping to maintain the school building and toilets for ongoing long-term use.
NOTE: Since the meeting in March, the School Director and the School Support Committee held a fundraiser to raise funds to contribute 10% to the building process. The school received $5000 from Excellency Yin Kea from the Cambodian Governor to support the building process. These funds have been put towards rebuilding and painting the fence and gate, the groundwork for the building, campus decorations and flower beds at the entrance of the school.
