YOUR ULTIMATE GUIDE TO A
STRESS-FREE START
Avoid last-minute chaos and get to the start line hassle-free. Whether you’ re running the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Ultra or Half, knowing where to park and how to navigate the shuttle service is key to a smooth race-day experience. From designated parking areas to shuttle schedules and key routes, here’ s everything you need to know to arrive on time and focus on your run.
NOTE: The information below applies to both the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Ultra on 5 April and Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Half on 6 April.
THE START
The starts of both races are in Main Road, Newlands. This is a short walk or bus shuttle trip from the parking areas that have been arranged at local schools. Marshals will be on hand to direct runners and their supporters to their relevant start batches. Runners are advised to arrive early to avoid congestion. Gates open at 04h00.
THE FINISH
Both races finish on the Rugby Fields at the University of Cape Town Upper Campus. A shuttle service will take runners and their supporters back to the parking areas.
PARKING AREAS
Parking at UCT and near the start are both very limited. Runners are therefore advised to share lifts to the start, or organise rides and get dropped off within walking distance of the start.
Official parking areas will be accessible with a prepaid parking voucher purchased along with your entry. Limited additional prepaid parking vouchers will be available at registration at the Expo. See the parking maps on the following page.
GETTING THERE
Runners and spectators coming from the City Centre, from the Northern, Southern and Eastern Suburbs, from the Winelands and from Hout Bay will be arriving via the M3, N2, M5 and Imam Horan Road( M24). Parking will be available at clearly signposted local schools. The start is a short walk from the various parking areas and marshals will guide runners to their respective starts.
FROM THE CITY CENTRE: Take Nelson Mandela Boulevard to the N2, and then take Exit 8 to Liesbeeck Parkway( M57). Turn right, and proceed straight onto Campground Road and then onto Palmyra Road where parking will be available at Groote Schuur High School.
FROM HOUT BAY AND THE SOUTHERN SUBURBS: Limited parking is available on the Upper Campus of UCT. Discs may be purchased at Registration. Runners should arrive early and walk to the start from designated parking areas. Spectators may access the parking areas and use the shuttle service to get to the finish.
FROM THE NORTHERN SUBURBS: From the N1 or Koeberg Road, proceed onto the M5, then proceed onto the N2 westbound, and then onto Liesbeeck Parkway( Exit 8). Alternatively, take the N1, then the R300, then the N2, and then Liesbeeck Parkway( Exit 8). At Liesbeeck Parkway, turn left, and then proceed straight onto Campground and Palmyra Roads where parking will be available at Groote Schuur High School.
FROM THE EASTERN SUBURBS AND WINELANDS AREAS: Take the N2, and then the Liesbeeck Parkway offramp( Exit 8). Turn left, and proceed straight onto Campground and Palmyra Roads where parking will be available at Groote Schuur High School. Alternatively, take Imam Horan Road onto Palmyra Road where parking will be available at Groote Schuur High School.
SHUTTLE SERVICE
An event shuttle service will operate between the various parking areas and the finish on UCT Upper Campus to allow friends and family to get to the finish to support their runners and to get runners and their supporters back to their cars. The service will operate as follows:
Saturday, 5 April: between 7am and 2pm. Sunday, 6 April: between 7am and 11am.
