What we believe
embership of an Elim Pentecostal Church does not
depend on rites or knowledge of creeds, but upon a personal experience of salvation. All who
have accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord and have been born
again are eligible as members and
can be received into fellowship.
There are, however, certain doctrines to which Elim churches
subscribe. Certain ordinances are
observed: breaking of bread and
drinking of wine in memory of our
Lord’s death (Holy Communion);
baptism by total immersion in water. The anointing of the sick with
oil for the healing of the body is
practised in our churches.
The statement of Fundamental
Truths accepts the veracity of the
Bible as the inspired Word of God.
Salvation is through the death
and resurrection of our Lord Jesus
Christ, who is also acknowledged
as the Healer of the body and the
Baptiser in the Holy Spirit, a present-day experience for all believers.
We believe that the gifts of the
Holy Spirit are for the Church today and that those who are born
of the Spirit should manifest the
fruit of the Spirit. We also believe in
the personal return of Jesus Christ
to receive unto Himself the Church
and to reign in power and glory.
