Michael Henry James Hill ( I , 42-47 ); died 5.2022 . Duberly Prize ; 2 Lt Camerons 1948 , attached Nigeria Regiment . Exhibitioner Magdalene College Cambridge 1949 ; 2 Nat Sci 1952 , MA 1958 . He worked for Boots Pure Drug Co ( Nottingham ) 1952-4 ; then the family firm Don Brothers , Buist & Co ( Forfar ), independent textile manufacturers 1954-86 , where he oversaw the modernisation of the jute works and the introduction of polypropylene . Director 1958-86 , retired 1986 . Chairman of the Dundee Chamber of Commerce and board member British Standards Institute 1972-86 , OBE 1981 . He then dedicated the rest of his life to the promotion of charitable and environmental causes : he helped establish the Strathmore Hospice , supported the Murton Nature Reserve and was a member of the Royal Company of Archers . He married Caroline Conran-Smith in 1961 , who died in 2010 . He is survived by 3 daughters and a son .
Humphrey John Patrick Chetwynd- Talbot ( A , 43-47 ); died 2.8.2022 . Exhibitioner 1943 ; 2 Lt RA 1948 , Tripolitania . University College Oxford 1949 , 3 PPE , BA 1952 , MA 1956 . He worked for Ogdens Tobacco in Merseyside , which he hated , and then joined ICI as a customer services account manager and where he spent the rest of his working life , 1954-84 . Retiring at 55 gave him the perfect opportunity to enjoy a succession of hobbies , starting with beekeeping , dog-training , wood-turning as well as researching and taking pride in his family history . After university he had been given a Rolls Royce chauffeurs course as a 21 st birthday present and it led to a life-long interest in old cars and car engines . He enjoyed opening his garden every summer for many years in aid of charity ; he was a churchwarden for 10 years in Colmworth and tower captain for 30 years . He married
Anne Jukes-Hughes in 1953 , who survives him together with their 3 daughters .
George Herbert Willett ( D , 44-49 ); died 25.8.2022 . Brother of WBW . Exhibitioner , Greek Prose and Verse , Latin Verse . RNVR 1949 , HMS Ocean . Scholar Lincoln College Oxford 1951-5 , 2 Cl Mods and Lit Hum . He worked for the stockbrokers Grieveson , Grant & Co , London , 1956-83 , becoming partner , and then as a financial consultant , 1984 . He then worked for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People for many years and paid for several dogs to be trained . A keen golfer at Wimbledon and bridge player , he was also extremely good at crossword puzzles . An oldworld stickler for good manners , ever courteous , but with an excellent sense of humour and a sharp wit , who wore his learning lightly . He married ( 1 ) Dorothy Philpott in 1957 ( marriage dissolved 1976 ) and ( 2 ) Bridget Todd in 1976 , who survives him together with his daughter and son .

Scholarship ( Classics ) Trinity College Cambridge 1950 , 1 Cl Pt 1 1951 , 2 Hist Pt 2 1952 , 2 Law Pt 2 1953 ; Thomas Travel Exhibition 1952 ; Yarborough Anderson Scholar ; called to the Bar ( Inner Temple ) 1954 ; MA 1957 ; Junior NE Circuit 1959 ; QC 1970 . Recorder in the Crown Court 1977-95 ; Bencher ( Inner Temple ) 1986 . He served as Master of the Silver from 1991 to 2012 : during his tenure he was responsible for commissioning the Pegasus candlesticks crafted by silversmith Anthony Elson , one pair for the Millennium , another pair for the Queen ’ s Golden Jubilee and four smaller candelabra for the Quatercentenary of the Royal Charter . He had 2 civil partners : Geoffrey Faux ( who died in 2011 ) and , from 2016 , Jozef Gejdos of Bratislava , who survives him

Scholar Caius College Cambridge 1953 , 1 Mod and Med Langs and Lit , CU Squash 1955 . Industrial apprentice , Sweden , 1956 ; timber trade , City of London , 1957 . Assistant master Eton College 1958 teaching German , housemaster 1970 . Headmaster , Mill Hill School , 1979- 92 . He married Penelope Beamont in 1969 , who survives him together with 2 daughters .
William ( Billy ) Nigel John Howard ( E , 45-50 ): died 20.7.2022 . Son of TFKH ; brother of TCFH ; father of TJRH , RWJH , MRJH and grandfather of TAHH and JMSH . VI 1950 , Co Prae . 2 Lt 1RHA 1951 , BAOR ; Exhibitioner , New College Oxford 1952 , 1 Mod Hist 1955 , MA 1959 . He turned down the Foreign Office to become a pep school master : Assistant master , Maidwell Hall , 1955-9 , Wellesley House 1959-61 ; Headmaster , Northaw School , West Tytherley , 1961-73 and at St Paul ’ s Prep School , Colet Court 1973 . A keen horseman in youth and later a sailor . He was a lay reader for about 60 years . He generated some silly season headlines when at Colet Court by tackling an epidemic of Canada Geese fouling the playing fields , with a 12-bore : he had the rare wildfowling bag of about 4 brace within 9 miles of Hyde Park Corner . A subsequent police investigation found this to be entirely legal . He married ( 1 ) Elizabeth Marshall in 1955 and ( 2 ) Heather McMullen , who survives him together with his 3 sons .
