Christopher Philip Greenwood ( D , 70-75 ); died 22.6.2021 . Son of OMRG , brother of SNG . VIII , Co Prae , XV 1975 . While in Kenny ’ s he developed a fascination with clocks . Durham University BA History . He became apprentice clockmaker to Bill Galbraith in Clerkenwell during the late 1970s , following which he joined Phillips Auctioneers as head of their Clock , Watch and Scientific Instruments department : he remained as a consultant there for many years after becoming self-employed . He became a very respected horologist and clockmaker , a member of the Antiquarian Horological Society , and will be greatly missed by those in the clock world . He was also a very talented cabinet maker , restorer of vintage cars , furniture , buildings and stonework . ‘ A kind and patient man , very generous with his time , nothing was ever too much trouble ; he would always help people when he could . Very knowledgeable about many things , an almost encyclopaedic memory , an excellent conversationalist .’ He married Tara Simonis in 1988 , who survives him , together with their son and daughter .
Nicholas Faviell Marrack Darker ( K , 94-99 ); died 31.7.2021 . VIII . Keble College Oxford 1999-2002 , BA in Biological Sciences ; MSc University of Surrey 2002-04 . In 2004 he joined Mediwatch plc in Rugby to work in Marketing and Product Management , moving to Florida in 2007 as International Product Manager . Following a takeover by Laborie Medical Technologies in 2013 , he moved to Toronto . Intelligent , wise , thoughtful , gracious , quiet , unassuming , yet a leader who brought a wit and insightfulness to everything he did . ‘ During his 16- year tenure with the company , Nick had a tremendously positive impact on all his colleagues , partners and the customers he worked with across the world ’. He loved travel , hiking and the great outdoors , particularly the US and Canadian National Parks . An avid reader and a particular fan of Terry Pratchett and William Shakespeare , both discovered whilst at Win Coll . He died unexpectedly at home of natural causes .
Robert Martin Russell Spencer ( F , 09- 10 ); died 20.6.2021 . Having struggled with boarding , he moved to Reading Blue Coat School . A very talented young man , intelligent and astute , with a ready head for figures , a keen mathematical bent and an inquiring analytical mind : he was quick to understand concepts and always anxious to learn and ask questions , loving to argue and to hear the opinions of others . ‘ A genuine soul , kind and truthful , with a great loyalty towards his friends and a generous spirit .’
Harry Joseph Pengelly Armstrong Evans ( H , 13-18 ); died 24.6.2021 . Represented Win Coll in rowing and attended the UK Olympic team ’ s training centre in Portugal over two summer seasons ; runner up in the 2016 International Schools Chess competition . Exeter University , Physics and Astro-Physics some of his last university work consisted of analysing quantum computing and its importance to society . He had a massive collection of different types of computers ( which he also constructed ), mobile telephones and iPads . Apart from being tall and physically strong , he is best described as a kind-hearted young man : he was also determined , perceptive , clever , quiet , competent , thoughtful with a wry sense of humour . He was a perfectionist , which was to be his ultimate undoing .
