OW Sailing After 2020 when no sailing took place it was excellent to get back to normal . The weekend of 11 th -12 th September saw the Reggie Bennett trophy sailed
at Seaview in a new format involving Ryde School ( alumni and current ) as well as Radley and Winchester . The OW team ( Robin Garton , Noel Dobbs , Gordon Baker , Tom Clementi , Tiger Tellwright and James Eynon ) were the overall winners and Casper Gray was the Race Officer . The College team also had a very successful day , beating Radley to win the Mermaid Trophy .
On 1 st October , five of us met at Port Solent to collect our Sunsail boat for the Arrow weekend in Cowes . We were joined in Cowes by the rest of the crew . Conditions on both Saturday and Sunday were challenging and there were fewer races than normal . Our team ( David Anderson , Richard Darley , Alastair Moye , Roderick Walker , Tim Wolfe- Barry , Hamish Macnamara , Duncan Byatt , Gerard Cloke Browne and Paul Phillips ) saw performance improve over the event , winning the final race on the Sunday . We were in 4 th place overall . Paul Phillips ’ wife was sailing for the Roedean boat .
Our Annual dinner takes place on Tuesday 23 rd November .

The Carthusian sailing yachts were given a roughly 2-3 hour head start under the handicapping system , meaning that , as the sole classic motor boat , we started the 20-mile course much later at 1.10pm . Medronha performed faultlessly in rough Solent conditions – the crew reported being shaken but not stirred .
