The Trusty Servant
The Maclure Pot teams 18 th November 2022 see many of them play for the OWs in the coming years .
The Second XI also had a terrible time with injuries , including losing captain Hugh Burden ( I , 10-15 ), which meant the season was ultimately curtailed , but they ’ ll be back fighting again next season .
With relegation for the 1 sts recently confirmed , we will be competing in Division One next season . The last time we were relegated from the Premier Division we bounced back at the first attempt and we should be well placed to do the same again under the captaincy of Lekan Olagunju ( F , 17-19 ). If you are interested in playing some football , please get in touch via OldWykehamistFC @ gmail . com – we ’ d love to hear from you !

ICENA News
Harry Peters writes : Icena have had a very competitive social season this year . Our dinner in Winchester just before Christmas was well attended and a great opportunity to hear about the College ’ s ambition for the season ahead . Our second fixture was at the HORR in London , 30 OWs battled through the Putney banks for a jar or two in a lively , good-humoured atmosphere . We are planning a final outing at Henley Royal Regatta with events on various days throughout the week . Look out for communication from Icena in the coming months for details of Henley plans and a link for our virtual AGM later .
Seb Longman ( F , 15-20 ) ran the 2023 London Marathon in support of the charity Blue Apple , a theatre company that supports actors with a range of learning disabilities . Founded by the mother of Old Collegeman Will Jessop ( Coll : 96- 01 ), the company is supported by an enthusiastic band of current Wykehamists , as part of their Community Service .
After overcoming illness and knee pain , Seb completed the Marathon in 5 hours 56 minutes and 31 seconds . Please support Seb at : blueappletheatre . com .
On reading the news about Seb , Nigel Hoad ( Coll , 68-73 ) writes : I have great respect for anyone who completes a marathon , and this young OW clearly deserves it for overcoming breathing and knee problems to raise money for charity .
At the other end of the spectrum however there are those who train seriously for months in order to run a fast time , and may I now present my son James ( Coll , 05-10 ) who completed the course in 2 hours 18 mins 38 secs , placing him 3rd amongst the non-elite runners ? His girlfriend Jess , daughter of Rhodri Davies ( G , 1970-74 ) also ran and completed the course in 3 hours 33 mins 45 secs , so between them they ran two marathons in 4 mins less than Seb took to run one !
James , Jess and Rhodri all are or have been Captains of Thames Hare and Hounds , the oldest cross-country running club in the world
