Hopperites at war
Lt Gen Sir Hew Pike ( I , 56-60 ) writes :
I thought that this picture following page ) and the wartime records of those in it might be of interest to The Trusty Servant . I hope he agrees ! ( He does , Ed )
I enclose a photograph of the Hopper ’ s 1936 winning Turner Pot team , which tells its own story : five of them lost their lives in the Second World War , and two of them , standing next to each other in the photograph , survived incarceration by the Japanese . The picture still hangs in our house , remembering my Uncle , Hew Tompson ( I , 33-38 ).
