Y OU MAY REMEMBER THAT I HAD A

BIT OF A WHINGE back in November when Donald Trump won the US election . The fact I hadn ’ t realistically entertained this result caused me no end of problems as I realised a matter of hours before the print deadline that much of that issue ’ s content had become redundant overnight , necessitating a caffeine-fuelled last-minute overhaul of the magazine .
As Trump takes the keys to the White House , there may be a lesson here for investors about preparing for the unexpected . As Daniel Lanyon points out on page 12 , for example , it would be unwise to take for granted the market ’ s gains since the US election and the UK ’ s very own political upset in the form of Brexit . Staying on this theme , Cherry Reynard attempts to decipher what Trumponomics will actually mean for investors , I ask a selection of risk-averse fund managers how they are hedging against the biggest threats to the market and Adam Lewis looks at the prospects for the IA North America sector . Square Mile ’ s Jason Broomer even gets in on the act by selecting Cormac Weldon ’ s Artemis US Smaller Companies fund in the regular What I Bought Last feature .
Elsewhere , Trustnet Direct ’ s John Blowers explains why he is reluctant to reduce risk in his pension portfolio as he enters the run-up to retirement and Miton ’ s Eric Moore highlights three stocks that are likely to raise their dividend in the years ahead .
Enjoy reading – unless , of course , Donald Trump is impeached by the time this hits your inbox , in which case you should feel free to disregard the rest of this issue .
