The UK is looking perilous from next year and I suspect significant growth will be harder to find than of late. There are just too many potential problems out there and even our very best fund managers are going to struggle to find value. However, emerging markets are now showing signs of re-emerging from their recent economic woes and there has been a notable rally in core funds in this sector. China does seem to have engineered a soft landing and the Indian economy is flying. But the recovery is patchy. Other emerging markets such as Russia and Brazil are looking weak, with rumours that Russia’s predominantly oil-driven economy has effectively run out of money.
