Oh says there are more of these companies to choose from in Asia than in the UK , where most of the income comes from energy stocks . Lofthouse also points out that many sectors with lacklustre growth in the UK look quite different in Asia : “ If an investor had taken the highest-yield option and stayed in telecoms and utilities in Europe and the UK , they would have had a high yield initially , but it wouldn ’ t have grown in line with inflation as companies such as Vodafone and BT cut their dividend .” In contrast , these sectors have grown quickly in Asia .
