Ben Lofthouse , manager of the Henderson International Income Trust , says that dividends are becoming a bigger part of overall shareholder returns in Asia and Japan , with even technology companies such as Tencent placing a greater emphasis on returning cash to shareholders .
Meanwhile Yoojeong Oh , manager of the abrdn Asian Income trust , says dividend growth in Asia has one of the strongest global growth rates over the past two decades , outpacing Europe and the US . “ Dividends are contributing around half of an investor ’ s overall return ,” she says .
