Life in the old dog yet

Global warming certainly seems to have prevailed in the UK this winter , as I arrive back from a February weekend walk in a T-shirt with the thermometer showing 15 ° C . After the hottest and driest summer on record , followed by the wettest spell I can remember ( my new garden weather station measured more than 17 inches – or 43.2cm – of rain between October and Christmas ), it ’ s hard to refute the claim that the climate is changing . It ’ s interesting that while even many climate change sceptics now appear to grudgingly admit we may be in trouble , nobody is grasping the nettle of solving it . Perhaps the highest levels of government around the world know that it ’ s too late to do anything about climate change at the “ eleventh hour ”, instead distracting us with short-term worries , such as the costof-living crisis . I ’ m no conspiracy theorist , however , which is why my eyebrows were raised when I read a claim that investment platforms are sleepwalking into oblivion because they have failed to get a handle on blockchain technology . I certainly won ’ t be talking about – or explaining – blockchain technology , most of you will be pleased to hear . But I think it ’ s worth considering what could happen to your investments that are currently sitting on a platform .
Wrong-footed Five years ago , I wrote an article predicting the beginning of the end of investment platforms as we knew them . By now , I would have expected to see some evidence of my prediction coming true , but nothing has happened . The platform market has barely changed over this time , barring a couple of ownership changes and a couple of new features introduced
