Editor ’ s letter

This issue of Trustnet Magazine may be the last to feature an article written by Robin Powell .
A long-time critic of active management ( and , at times , Trustnet ), he is giving up writing about this subject after nearly a decade . And , while I don ’ t agree with everything he has ever written , there is no doubt investors will be poorer now he is focusing his attention elsewhere . Read his parting shot at the active management industry in this month ’ s cover feature . Staying on this theme , Sam Shaw examines the boom in passive fixed income funds , and I find out whether active managers still have the edge when it comes to small caps .
This month ’ s sector focus falls on IA UK Equity Income as Adam Lewis asks if it is just for income seekers , or whether it represents an option for growth investors in an era of high inflation .
In our regular columns , John Blowers examines the impact of pausing pension contributions on your retirement savings , Aviva Investors ’ Charlotte Meyrick names three UK-listed cyber security firms that are taking advantage of increased spending in this area , and Nexus IFA ’ s Kerry Nelson reveals which fund her previous experience with high inflation has drawn her towards .
