This could act as a core fund for anyone hoping to gain exposure to a market that currently looks cheap

Investors in Japanese companies have suffered from a fall in the yen this year , with the currency recently hitting a 24-year low versus the dollar . However , while the Bank of Japan has so far refused to follow the lead of other central banks in raising interest rates , many analysts claim it is a question of when and not if it abandons its ultraloose monetary policy . For investors tempted to take advantage of an opportunity to buy Japanese companies at a relative discount , Dzmitry Lipski , head of funds research at interactive investor , recommends the Jupiter Japan Income fund , which was added to the platform ’ s Super 60 list in January . The fund ’ s managers , Dan Carter and Mitesh Patel , believe there is an inverse relationship between growth and income in the market , which Lipski said makes the fund a core option for gaining exposure to Japan . “ Stocks selected for the portfolio typically trade on a premium yield and generate strong dividend growth ,” he said . “ The emphasis is on well-managed companies that demonstrate strong cashflows above the cost of capital , good growth prospects and management aligned with shareholders ’ interests .” The team at Square Mile Investment Consulting & Research is also a fan of the fund , referring to Carter and Patel as “ accomplished and dynamic stockpickers ”.
