Butterfl ies n' Blooms Presented by Open through September 24; 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. FREE with Zoo admission or membership. Isn’t it wonderful when you suddenly see a pretty butterfl y fl utter by? This season at the Zoo, you can walk amongst hundreds of these brilliantly-colored beauties at the Butterfl y n’ Blooms exhibit. Experience summer in full color as you wander through our new 1,000 sq. ft. outdoor fl ight house featuring butterfl ies sipping nectar from native fl owers, fl ying freely and basking in the sunlight. Butterfl ies are truly beautiful to behold — but did you know they are also helpful to humans? Butterfl ies provide an essential and incredibly valuable ecosystem service; they are pollinators! Many fruits and vegetables, about 1/3 of the world’s food supply, come from fl owers that are pollinated. Apples, grapes, and even tomatoes would disappear from stores if we didn’t have bees, butterfl ies, and other pollinators. So, come and let your summer fun take fl ight — and leave with a better understanding of the envi- ronment and protections needed for the survival of these spectacular creatures. Plus, you’ll learn ways to help them thrive in your own backyard! Every Butterfly Needs a Bloom We have the perfect blooms to delight and sustain our colorful-winged friends.
