Kermit and co. were successfully resurrected in
2011, but it appears that director James Bobin is
having a slight bit of ‘second movie syndrome’ with
Muppets: Most Wanted. Even the opening number
recognises that sequels are never as good.
The Muppets carry on from where they left off
and head out on a world tour, but when Kermit is
replaced by Constantine – the most wanted frog in
the world – as a cover up for a host of audacious
art-thefts, things become strange, and it doesn’t go
unnoticed. Ricky Gervais is Constantine’s human
sidekick Dominic Badguy (“It’s pronounced
Badgey. It’s French”), who provides generous
helpings of sweet-natured slapstick humour and
puts aside the whole ‘friends first’ rule.

a fantastic toe tapper and the musical numbers, by
Bret Mackenzie, are what really carry the film from

here they come
