herd roun’ the waterin’ trough From the desk of Calamity Cate Howdy Amigos, have you noticed there are more and more articles in print and online from major sources reporting about the plight of our wild horses and horse slaughter for human consumption issue? Well, there are. And it only goes to prove that rounding up the wild ones and slaughtering both wilds and domestic horses for meat is unacceptable here in the United States and some foreign countries. Know why? Because it is deplorable! This issue of tCmag is chock full of great horses and the people they love doing the things they love to do to promote horses, the welfare and protection of horses and the love of the mighty animal. The equine slaughter issue in the United States was laid to rest, once again. And slaughter houses, once again, have been unable to open due to USDA defunding to inspect the plants for health, humane and safety regulations. You do know there is nothing humane about slaughter? But I’ve heard rumors that this stay of execution is only for ONE YEAR! We need to stay on top of this issue as it will go underground and we will loose! Our horses will loose! I can’t think of a better time than NOW to get involved and make your voice heard for our horses.
