Susan was wonderful to talk to. She is truly an amazing person. She is a recent MacEwan University graduate. She is working towards her ultimate goal which is to one day own a communications business. Susan has been performing as a poet for about three years now. When she perform she goes by her African name; Arigo Dut.
She is highly influenced by her community and her mother and she uses her poetry to connect with people from all walks of life. She is very involved in all her communities and she is particularly involved with programs and project that focus on black and youth empowerment.
She has three things that really matter to her
- Relationships i.e. her relation to people
- Family
- She couldn't remember the third thing [lol]
She is currently working on the Speak out Series founded by Tracy Berry. A project where immigrant women come together and share their life stories and their struggles and how they overcame it and thrived. All women come together and inspire one another to keep pushing and to change the mainstream image of immigrant women in Canada and to showcase amazing women doing amazing thing. If you can, go to one of the speak out talks. It is truly inspiring.
