"Cutthroat trout will forever remain one of my favorite species to fish for and to photograph. I love throwing a big dry fly into a riffle and seeing a cutty explode on it, like it hadn’t seen a meal in days. Early in the season you can find them chowing down on whatever floats their way; they are gluttonous creatures, which makes them a great fish for someone just learning the sport. When friends often ask me about fly fishing and a good way to start out I always suggest cutthroat fishing, it's a great way to learn how to use dry flies, how to read the water and how to trout set."
