Barbara Barton is
the epitome of a dedicated volunteer who loves her community . BARBARA In her book , everyone is family . This busy mother , wife ,
BARTON
grandmother and friend is always coming from or going to help out with something positive for the community , church or school .
Born in Beaumont , Barbara came to Troup in 1974 when she married Lee . They raised their daughters here and now their grandson . Whether it is Young Farmers , baseball , school events , they are there , supporting in any way they possibly can .
Barbara was a dedicated teacher in Troup
2020-2021
schools , retiring in 2007 . She went on to mentor teachers in Tyler ISD . You will likely still find her in a Troup classroom as one of their favorite substitute teachers .
Serving city , church , school and community , Barbara is ready , willing and able . She has served many through her work in the Troup Women ’ s Civic Organization . Her service for the Lord at Troup ’ s First United Methodist Church includes VBS , Wednesday night activities , anything relating to the youth of the church as well as leadership in Pastor Parish Relations .
Barbara was a member of Troup ’ s City Council for many years and still serves as chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission . She is in her first term on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors .
The Troup Chamber of Commerce is honored to present the Citizen of the Year Award to Barbara Barton .

Cory Melton grew up in Whitehouse , but his mom and dad grew up in Troup . With relatives CORY MELTON being nearby , he spend a great deal of his younger years visiting grandparents in Troup .
Cory went to Texas A & M University one year before meeting his beautiful future wife Sheri , which brought him back to Troup to finish his bachelor ’ s degree in computer science at UT Tyler . He worked at Lufkin Industries for three years before missing home and moving back to Troup . His work experience expanded at Whitehouse ISD and Texas Spine & Joint Hospital .
Cory now operates his own business in Troup , The Computer Guy . He recently opened an additional office in Tyler as his expert reputation continues to grow , so does his business . Cory continues to give back to his community of Troup as a member of the Chamber and volunteers his time to keep the Chamber and the library ’ s websites up and running .
Cory enjoys spending time with his family and keeping busy on outdoor projects .
