Welcome to Troup , Texas

Troup is a small town located in the beautiful rolling hills of East Texas , south of Tyler , with a friendly community . Our focus is on making our best even better for all our citizens and guests . A rich history built by the railroad , agriculture , as well as the oil and gas industry brought many to this part of Texas over the years . Today , Troup ’ s population is pushing 2,000 and counting . The welcoming feel , an active faith community and an outstanding school district continues to cause people to call Troup , HOME .

A message from Troup Mayor Joe Carlyle

While 2020 was a year none of us will soon forget , Troup citizens can hold their heads high and say that through it all , they remained steadfast and loyal . Our
JOE CARLYLE
businesses opened their doors just as soon as allowed and the public supported them .
The good-hearted people of Troup stepped up and helped those in our community when the going got tough . They cared for one another , they saw to the needs of their neighbors and prayed with the families who lost loved ones during the darkest days of the pandemic .
Troup ’ s municipal employees worked through extremely difficult circumstances including several days of unprecedented snowfall and arctic cold temperatures . Workers kept the water flowing and sewer plant functioning under the most extreme conditions .
Even while the challenges were many , projects moved forward . The downtown revitalization on the south side of East Duval and West Georgia was completed and the City has been awarded yet another grant to further the improvements along Georgia and Duval . Additional funds were added to the project by the Troup Community Development Corporation .
The Texas Water Development Board approved a $ 1.14 million loan for the renovation of the 30-year-old Troup wastewater treatment plant . This approval comes with $ 300,000 in loan forgiveness and $ 840,000 at zero percent interest . The loan forgiveness and 0 percent interest rates will save Troup ’ s water utilities customers over $ 700,000 .
A big Thank You goes to all of the City ’ s staff for giving 110 percent to make our City a better place to live .
I ’ m proud to say I ’ m from Troup Texas , our very own Mayberry !
