Troup ISD Teacher of the Year 2021
Samantha Weeks was born and raised SAMANTHA WEEKS in Humble , TX and is a fourth generation graduate of Humble High School , class of 2003 . She continued her education , while playing college softball , at Grayson County College , where she received two associate degrees in general studies and secondary education . Upon graduation from GCC , she went on to play college softball and continue her education at UT Tyler . She graduated from UT Tyler in 2009 with a bachelor ' s degree in mathematics and a minor in education . She is currently finishing up twelve years of teaching , all of which have been at Troup High School . Coach Weeks currently teaches Geometry PAP , Pre-Cal and Senior Math , along with coaching multiple Academic UIL events .
Sam is our school ’ s FCA huddle leader . She believes that there is a way to make math understandable for all students . She strives to help each of her students find a method that works best for them with whatever concept they may be learning . She also believes that the relationships with her students are equally as important as their education . Sam tries to demonstrate to her students that their hard work will pay off by providing them with positive reinforcement and motivational encouragement through tough situations . Sam Weeks also serves as an assistant volleyball coach and the head softball coach , which she has done all twelve years here at Troup . She has been married for 9 years to her husband , Brendan . They have two children , a daughter , Kaydense ( 8 ) and a son , Logan ( 4 ). She loves the lifelong relationships that she has made and endless rewards that come along with teaching and coaching at Troup . She feels very blessed to have found her dream job at such a young age . Sam Weeks is honored to represent Troup High School as their teacher of the year .
Troup ISD Elementary Teacher of the Year 2020 Charitie Wright does an outstanding

job as a 5th grade Science teacher at Troup Elementary . She sets high expectations for her class and develops a great rapport with her students and parents . She possesses organizational skills and the ability to multitask efficiently . Her initiative , drive , and enthusiasm are evident by all . She is a true team player .
Charitie ’ s passion for Elementary science is evident to anyone who meets her or has the privilege to visit her classroom . She has invested much of her personal time expanding her knowledge by attending workshops and conferences both in Texas and nationally . She enjoys sharing her knowledge by facilitating week-long workshops in the summer through Texas Mining and Reclamation Association , moderating social media groups for science education related organizations , and mentoring teachers across the state of Texas .
Charitie began her career in education nearly 20 years ago as a special education paraprofessional . After many years as a part time student she earned her degree from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2010 . Charitie has been a classroom teacher for nine years .
