REFILWE ‘VANILLABLAQ’ MODISELLE
“TROPICS MAGAZINE - Female Top Model Of The Year” 2016
For the first time in history, a media platform unveils an extensive list
of influential people celebrating all personalities based on their influence and not their skin. The very first edition of the « TROPICS MAGAZINE – PEOPLE OF THE YEAR » is an annual celebration of influential
people and unsung heroes marking, at the same time, the 6th-anniversary of the magazine.
In this power list, TROPICS MAGAZINE elevates their work and efforts with the goal to inspire the upcoming talents to follow in their
footstep. Therefore, the editorial team at TROPICS has prepared an
extensive list of names divided into the following categories – Arts,
Culture, Fashion, Beauty, Health, Politics, Technology, Music, Medias, Sports, Decoration, Architecture, Business and Photography.
Out of 84 international Top Models celebrated in the MODELS OF
THE YEAR 2016 power list by TROPICS MAGAZINE, South Africa’s
REFILWE MODISELLE and Senegalo-Lebanon’s JEAN-CHARLES
DRUCK made it to the top. The official announcement of the
84 international models was published on TROPICS MAGAZINE’s
website two weeks prior to the announcement and the public
was invited to nominate their favourite MODELS of the year –
Readers’ Choice 2016.
WHO IS REFILWE MODISELLE?
In an era where everyone is trying something new just to be
relevant, it’s good to know there are artists who are all-rounders
and can back it up. Miss Refilwe Modiselle, dubbed « The Only
Working Albino Model » in South Africa can attest to this. The
beautiful, brainy and green eyed lass have earned her place
among the top class of entertainment and media personalities
in South Africa. She has achieved her success through sheer
hard work and determination. Today, Refilwe is known as an
easy to work with and driven professional and her ambitions
are clear because she wants to be a queen of this industry.
An experienced communications practitioner, Refilwe started out as a part time model as she worked her way through
various positions in branding and corporate & creative communications. Her corporate experience includes Herdbuoys
McCann, Mindshare and Republic Media Group, to name
but a few. Refilwe is a graduate of Varsity College where
she studied Advertising, and graduated top of her class.
She set her sights on going bigger than Soweto, where she
is originally from and made a point of entering the modeling world while juggling a busy work schedule. Things
have never been the same, as she walked on the ramp
in a David Tlale original at Fashion Week back in 2005,
that strut catapulted her into the star she is today. Her list
of accomplishments, accolades, and acquisitions keeps
growing; Ms Modiselle is definitely on her way to the top.
Refilwe’s most recent accomplishment was being
crowned the Legit Summer Ambassador 2012, being featured in a TV and print campaign. She reveled in this task
and enjoys a good relationship with the leading women’s retailer.
Refilwe has modeled on the ramp for David Tlale, House
of Machere and Clive Rundle and has strutted the
Fashion Week catwalk, having modeled at both South
African Week (SAFW) and Africa Fashion International
Fashion (AFI) Week. In addition to this, she is one of the
very sought-after Top Models in the country featured
on CNN African Voices, Oprah Magazine, Y-Mag and
