January 22-23 , 2024 , we conducted our Winter Troon Coach Summit . Presenters included : 2024 PGA Teacher of the Year , Joe Hallet , Sports Box AI , CEO Proponent Group Lorin Anderson , PGA Teacher of the Year Kevin Kirk , Golf Mind and Body , OP 36 , Top 100 Instructor Ericka Larkin , Putting Expert David Edel , Coaching Expert Dr Paul Schempp and 2024 LPGA Teacher of the Year Cheryl Anderson . Many thanks to Troon location Mystic Dunes , Orlando FL in hosting this 1.5-day event . Lomas Santa Fe CC and Callaway Golf , San Diego CA will be hosting our summer Troon Coach Summit June 21-22 , 2024 . Hall of Fame Instructor Chuck Cook will be the lead presenter . Chuck will be discussing How to Teach and What I Teach . The agenda and presentation list will be finalized May 1 , 2024 .
May 2024 will be our Player Development Month and will focus on best practices . Troon social media channels will be promoting facilities programming . The weekly schedule will be , Movement Monday , Teacher Tuesday , Women Wednesday , Technology Thursday , Swing Fix Friday , Short Game Saturday , and Student Sunday . Additional information will be forwarded April 1 , 2024 .

January 29 , 2024 , the Troon Player Development Advisory Board met virtually and discussed : May Player Development initiatives , Teaching Technology and Teacher / Coaching Rankings . Board consists of : Dana Garmany , Kris Strauss , Bill O ’ Brien , Jeff Ma , Landyn Lewis , Matt Molloy , Steven Outlaw , Joe Hallet , David Curtis , Phil Green , Kellie Hines , John Dipollina , Monique Gesualdi , Matt McIntee , Greg Ogle , Chad Nigro , Steve Loesher , Phil Green , and me . Our next meeting is April 29 , 2024 . Please send me any topics you would like the advisory board to discuss .
Dr Paul Schempp discussed “ How to Give the Ideal Lesson ,” during our recent summit . The ideal lesson consists of 6 sections : Preparation , Lesson Opening , Planning , Communicate , Build Relationships and Closing . As William Artur Ward mentions , “ Teaching is more than imparting knowledge ; it is inspiring change . Learning is more than absorbing facts ; it is acquiring understanding .”
