Up until this event, I was like the majority of the drivers on the roads, simply blaming other drivers rather than the poorly designed infrastructure and the massive volume of vehicles. Before my car accident I had no clue how common these types of collisions were; It never even occurred to me how many people die in vehicle related accidents every day.
In 2015, the year of my car accident, there were a total of 3,124 fatal crashes resulting in 3,516 deaths in the state of Texas alone. This was the highest road mortality rates recorded in the United States for that year.
