When UC San Diego students wanted more apparel options and the freedom to make their own designs , the answer was Triton Outfitters — a not-for-profit student-run store under Associated Students that has become a mainstay on campus .
“ Everything is student-done , from concept to design to production , marketing , photoshoots , and of course , selling our items ,” says Noah Estep ’ 19 , former creative director and manager for Triton Outfitters . “ Students wanted their own experience , so they created it themselves .”
A new line is released every season , and many items sell out quickly . Their college sweatshirt line flew off the shelves , and their “ rainbow ” collection was a big seller too , sparking an expansion into different markets and designs . Their La Jolla series and Triton Family collections are an experiment , for example , and they regularly collaborate with other student orgs and events like the Sun God Festival and Horizon concert series to make custom items that capture events on campus .
Local Love The student store has made merch for classic campus concerts , as well as the La Jolla series , representing our university ' s neighborhood .
Strike a ( Solo ) Pose With social distancing , Triton Outfitters ' signature group photoshoots like those on this page were replaced by student models showcasing their latest creations from their homes .
