Lola Romanucci-Ross , professor emeritus of anthropology , died April 29 , 2017 . She was 93 . She was among the first to work toward incorporating social sciences in medical training , and would develop Social and Behavioral Sciences curriculum for the UC San Diego School of Medicine . She is survived by her husband , children and grandchildren .
Michael John Schoop , Warren ’ 80 , died October 25 , 2017 . He was 59 . Schoop worked for Lockheed Martin , receiving multiple awards for his contributions to the creation of the F-22 Raptor , a fighter

aircraft used by the United States Air Force . He is survived by his wife , daughters and extended family .
Lee Shephard , MS ’ 94 , died June 10 , 2016 from cancer . He was 53 . Shephard held positions at several biotechnology companies before becoming a brewer . He was co-host of Dr . Homebrew , a podcast by The Brewing Network . He is survived by his parents and brother .
Hans L . Spiegelberg , professor emeritus , died July 6 , 2017 . He was 84 . Spiegelberg was head of the pediatric immunology and allergy division at UC San Diego . He is survived by his wife , children and extended family .

Alan D . Swinney , Muir ’ 89 , died July 10 , 2017 from Huntington ’ s disease . He was 58 . In 2011 , Swinney retired from Beckman Coulter , a biotechnology company in Carlsbad , Calif . He was a marathoner and triathlete who participated in the London , Berlin and Boston marathons . He is survived by his extended family .
J . Morgan Wells , PhD ’ 69 , died July 28 , 2017 , from pancreatic cancer . He was 77 . Wells was a marine biologist and physiologist who collaborated with the Navy , Air Force , and NASA , receiving numerous awards for his work . He is survived by his three daughters , granddaughter , brother and extended family .

Mary C . Wilder , Warren ’ 91 , died June 17 , 2017 . She was 70 . She lived in Ramona , Calif ., where she owned two businesses . Wilder was an accomplished artist and writer . She is survived by her children , three grandchildren and five siblings .
Beverly Wulfeck , PhD ’ 87 , died September 8 , 2017 . She was 70 .
Douglas B . Youngdale , Marshall ‘ 78 , died September 6 , 2017 , from pancreatic cancer . He was 60 . Youngdale worked as a director of estimating at RQ Construction in Carlsbad , Calif . Youngdale was also a Sunday school teacher and coach . He is survived by his wife , children , grandchildren and extended family .
