FROM THE EDITOR

Few places , if any , are as accepting or as welcoming as The Guardian . Most people who join The Guardian have a passion for spreading awareness , discussing events of the day and debating new ideas . We come from around the world and care deeply about our communities , both local and global . The willingness to hear and understand the perspectives in our community is what makes The Guardian feel more like a family rather than a student organization . To the staff who came before us , we thank you for passing on your values and for challenging us to understand our world , rather than passively accept it . Thank you for teaching us , through your experiences , to never take the purpose of The Guardian for granted , to embrace the difficulties and respect the role we have as student journalists .

Today , The Guardian continues to be a family . We are constantly looking to find new ways to guard and share the truth . I am humbled to keep working alongside our staff to protect the legacy passed down to us , and champion the voice of students at UC San Diego .

FROM THE FOUNDERS
“ One of the greatest rewards to me personally has been hearing from people who have gone on to professional journalism where working on the paper gave clarity to their career direction , and in a number of cases , positively transformed their lives .”
Renney Senn , Former Student
“ Being part of the Triton Times was a highlight of my college career . It was so long ago , and yet my memories are very vivid . The skills learned while working on the newspaper will easily carry current students forward into any career .
Geoff Moyle , ' 70
“ Every year , The Guardian manages to find talented students to publish the paper and thus keep the institution fresh and relevant . That ' s all we as the founders could have hoped for . They are providing a very valuable communications service to the campus and are keeping the student voice ever present .”
