A COMMITMENT TO SERVICE

UC San Diego has long been committed to making a difference in our local community and beyond . For the sixth consecutive year , our campus was ranked the number one university in the nation by Washington Monthly for its contributions to the public good . Alumni around the world have proudly contributed to UC San Diego ’ s collective success and remarkable story , yet it is our commitment to service that is truly at the heart of our Triton community .
In 2015 , over 1,000 Triton alumni volunteered their time on behalf of UC San Diego . As we look ahead to 2016 , you may be thinking about how you can give back . There are so many ways to volunteer through UC San Diego , no matter where you live — you can serve as an alumni advisor to students ; host a student intern ; help our academic divisions , colleges and campus programs ; or assist with admissions and the retention of students . Alumni volunteers can serve as leaders in our regional clubs , campus alumni groups and affinity organizations . You can review scholarship applications , make calls to newly admitted students during the Early Calling Campaign and meet our newest Tritons and their families at our annual Summer Send-Offs .
And if you don ’ t have time to engage in “ hands on ” service , there is still a way for you to help . Please consider giving back by supporting student scholarships at giving . ucsd . edu . Your gift , no matter the size , will allow promising students to pursue their hopes and dreams , and create a future of which we can all be proud .
