BEHIND THE UC SAN DIEGO ALUMNI BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The UC San Diego Alumni Association represents more than 225,000 alumni and is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors composed of experts from various industries , backgrounds and graduating classes . The two-fold service of this diverse group includes advocating the interests of alumni to the university and championing university priorities within their own areas of influence .
Together with university leadership , the Board participates in strategic development of UC San Diego Alumni programs and initiatives . The following committees focus service to the university in three areas : |
The Student-Campus Experience Committee advises the university in strengthening student connections and enhancing the alumni experience . |
The Alumni Engagement Committee advises on the creation and management of programs and services to maximize alumni engagement . |
The Alumni Philanthropy Committee interfaces with the university in support of all campus fundraising efforts . |

small group of alumni drafted the Association ’ s original bylaws on June 3 , 1974 . Back then , tuition was a fraction of what it is today . One of the Board ’ s longest-standing responsibilities is supporting student scholarships .
