WE ' VE GOT SPIRIT !
As a former cheerleader , I know what it takes to rally a crowd . And you should have seen our office for the annual Spirit Week ( 01 ) campus decorating contest ! We showed what it means to win at the game of Life as alumni . It was all on display , from this magazine to our many events , clubs and connections . Your UC San Diego Alumni office took second place . ( We ’ ll get you next year , Registrar !) It all led up to Spirit Night ( 02 ) at the newly renovated RIMAC Arena , where we joined current students in cheering on the men ’ s and women ’ s basketball teams . We then took our spirit on the road to San Francisco ( 03 ), where we had our biggest alumni crowd ever , and on to the East Coast with exciting and illuminating engagements in New York City ( 04 ) and Washington , D . C . ( 05 ) ( with record numbers as well !) And for the first time , we hosted alumni for an evening of discovery and celebration in Mexico City ( 06 ).
And just a few weeks ago , more than 4,500 alumni and friends laced up their sneakers for the 23rd annual Triton 5K ( 07 ) benefiting student scholarships at UC San Diego . With all this and more , the # TritonLife is a special experience for all of us alumni , and worth sharing with others . If you ’ ve got spirit ( and we know you do !) join us at Alumni Celebration Weekend , May 31 – June 2 and Homecoming , October 18 – 20 .
