Barbara J . Rae-Venter , Muir , PhD ’ 76 , was part of the team to crack the case of the Golden State Killer . A retired patent attorney , she was featured in The New York Times for her work in genetic sleuthing .

Kim Stanley Robinson , Muir , PhD ’ 82 , a New York Times bestselling author , writes about the colonization of the moon by China in the 21st century in his latest novel , Red Moon , published by Orbit .

Marti Steele Kilby , Muir , released her first book , Home Buying Power : The Savvy Shopper ' s Guide to Paying Less and Getting More in Any Real Estate Market . She is the broker and owner of Steele Group Realty in La Mesa , Calif .
Otis Watson , Marshall , was hired by United Business Bank as its vice president and community reinvestment officer for California , New Mexico , and Washington . Watson is the recipient of the 2018 UC San Diego True Triton award .

Dr . Jeffrey O . Bennett , Revelle , an astrophysicist , is the author of six children ’ s books that have been selected by the Story Time from Space Program , in which astronauts read books to children ( and perform related science experiments ) from the International Space Station .
Geri Rathburn Gagat , Revelle , was elected president of Family Nature Summits , a nonprofit devoted to environmental education and appreciation of nature through an immersive experience for all ages .

Jennifer A . Kearns , Warren , was a recipient of the San Diego Business Journal ’ s annual “ Women of the Year ” award , recognizing dynamic business leaders who have made significant contributions to San Diego ’ s workplaces and communities .
