" Writing about archaeologist Tom Levy ’ s adventures in that part of the world was quite a trip ,” she says , " both a personal journey into memories and a writerly one into the stories Levy has dug up ."
Triton editor Jarrett Haley jumped on the chance to talk with two San Diego masters of craft , distiller Yuseff Cherney ’ 92 and restaurateur Arsalun Tafazoli ’ 06 . “ We all shared very philosophical studies in our college careers ,” he says . “ You can tell they ’ re both driven by very deep creative principles . It comes through in what they make — be it a great drink , or the place that serves it .”
The chance to run an essay by professor and design luminary Don Norman was one our editors wouldn ’ t dare pass up . “ His piece on technology was perfect for our audience ,” says managing editor Malinda Danziger ’ 00 . “ It ' s a thought piece from a thoughtful place .” A great fit as well , given that Norman ’ s hallmark concept of “ User Centered System Design ” has the intentional acronym of UCSD .

Triton magazine received a tremendous response from alumni flipping for Dr . Stephen Mayfield ’ s algae-based flipflops ! His lab is working on final designs and plans to have prototypes available for testing later this summer .
