Some nontraditions are worth reliving — like a campus snow day even here on the Southern California coast . With Muir College celebrating its 50th anniversary this year , UC San Diego Alumni recreated the epic “ Snowball Fiesta ” held in 1976 , when students frolicked in 16 tons of ice that the Ski Club had dumped on The Hump outside Main Gym .
