Tom Polakiewicz , Revelle , a docent at Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve , has published his second book , The Treasure of the Santa Susana , a historical adventure novel for middle-grade readers .
1972
Patricia Dove Miller , Muir , has published a memoir about her year abroad , Bamboo Secrets : One Woman ’ s Question through the Shadows of Japan .
1973
MaryAnne Anthony Smith , Revelle , co-authored two college mathematics textbooks . She has been retired for two years after teaching at Santa Ana College for 39 years .
1975
John Preston , Marshall , provides psychiatric care to the homeless at St . Vincent de Paul Family Health Clinic in San Diego . For 20 years , he was a staff psychiatrist at the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation , before retiring in 2013 .
1981
Mark Schulze , Warren , is the CEO and founder of Crystal Pyramid Productions , a video production service for corporate and broadcast clients .
1983
Kirby Wright , Warren , was the 2016 Artist in Residence at the Eckerö Mail and Customs House in the Åland Islands , Finland . His second play , Asylum Uncle , opened in New York in November 2016 .
1984
Hans Wiersma , Muir , is author of the second edition of Luther the Reformer : The Story of the Man and His Career , published by Fortress Press .
1985
Cantor Mark Childs , Muir , was awarded an honorary doctorate from his seminary Hebrew Union College and was feted for 25 years in service to Congregation B ’ nai B ’ rith of Santa Barbara , Calif .
THE CENTENARIAN
In October , Walter Munk , PhD ’ 47 , one of UC San Diego ’ s oldest living alumni , will celebrate his 100th birthday . Celebrate the man , the myth and the legend in the September issue of Triton magazine .
