READER FEEDBACK

Our look back at “ The Long Game ” with campus plans and other long-term stories got folks talking . To be a part of future Triton issues , visit : tritonmag . com / upcoming any ideas but your own “ wokeness .” This is not what a university is there to do . It is supposed to encourage a true diversity of ideas . Therefore , as this seems to be the official position of the Alumni association , we are no longer going to be donating to the university , and we will be urging our friends from school to do the same . Actions have consequences . – Greg Wolfe ’ 94
Good article and description of the massive plan for UCSD . However , I think there exists a misunderstanding regarding the aerial tramway . This tramway is supposed to tie Scripps Institution of Oceanography ( SIO ) with upper campus . It is essential that SIO researchers and students have an efficient way to go between SIO and upper campus . I would say it is essential to have the campus integrated — much like building the bridge to the medical center , the tramway will serve this purpose . In addition , I think a tramway could be used as a tourist attraction and generate money for UCSD . The tramway that connects Oregon Health Science University ( OHSU , Portland ) upper and lower campus is very popular with tourists and the general public . Beautiful views . Please do not replace with trolley extension . – Lena Gerwick , PhD Professor , Research Center for Marine Biotechnology and Biomedicine Scripps Institution of Oceanography
It ’ s been so long . Graduated more than 50 years ago . I get lost whenever I ’ m on campus . It ’ s a city now . I do read the Triton . – Robert Stokesberry ’ 70
I loved this movie [ Crip Camp : A Disability Revolution ] so much . It showed the genesis of the disability civil rights movement with the incredible archival film footage from Camp Jened and sit-ins and other protests leading to the signing of the ADA . I was fortunate to participate in the 2015 ADA anniversary roll march in Washington , D . C . – Donna Valente Podcaster , Giving Heart Beat
I LOVED the last issue . I ’ m usually not one to read Triton magazine — despite being a former campus tour guide and promoter of the university . Your last issue talking about the campus plan caught my eye from the cover ( how is campus changing ?) and then a majority of the articles inside I really enjoyed reading . Thank you for creating such a great issue . I ’ ll look forward to future issues with more interest ! – Michael Kirkpatrick ’ 10
As graduates of UCSD (’ 93 & ’ 94 ), my wife and I are tired of the constant barrage of Left-wing articles in this magazine . You claim to be “ diverse ,” but apparently all that means to you is skin color . You have no articles from the Conservative point of view — indeed , most of your articles openly denigrate it — which to me means you are not interested in recognizing
I think the last issue of Triton magazine was really nice . I did my Masters and PhD there and then taught for many years . I miss UCSD and La Jolla . I live in Minneapolis now ; place of my birth . – Lee Fargo , MA ’ 90 , PhD ’ 95
These publications are wonderful and should be continued . They make me even more proud to be a Triton alum . – Daniel Krauth , MD ’ 16 , MPH LT , MC , USN Infectious Diseases , Fellow Naval Medical Center San Diego Assistant Professor of Medicine Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences
I love the magazine . I think sometimes it has a bit too much alumni outreach , but I totally get it . My favorite pieces are the highlights of the work of our incredible alumni . I would love to see a Kim Stanley Robinson article / interview , and there are so many others . And I loved the surf team article . That was a lot of fun . – Allison Baumhefner ’ 89
