Joanna McKittrick died on November 15 , 2019 . She was 65 . A longtime member of the engineering faculty , she earned international acclaim in biomimicry , a field that looks to nature for design clues . She is survived by her sisters and extended family .
David John Payne , Sixth ’ 07 , died November 12 , 2019 , from complications from diabetes . He was 38 . He had recently completed his first year of rotation in medical school with the hope to focus on emergency care . He is survived by his family and beloved German Shepherd , Lexi .
Amanda M . Roque , Sixth ’ 10 , died January 17 , 2020 . She was 32 . Following graduation , she moved to San Francisco

and worked for the Yosemite Conservancy and Earthjustice . She is survived by her parents and extended family .
William J . Seiter , Revelle ’ 74 , died October 5 , 2019 . He was 66 . He and his wife co-founded Seiter Lega Studio , a firm specializing in international trademark law . He is survived by his wife , son , and siblings .
Long N . Truong , Warren ’ 98 , died November 9 , 2019 from gastrointestinal cancer . He was 45 . An avid sports and music fan , he also enjoyed bodyboarding , snowboarding , and traveling . Yet his biggest and most fulfilling adventure was being a dad to his girls . Truong is survived by his wife and daughters .

Ernie was a walking history book of Revelle College . I remember the fun story of when Ike and Tina Turner played the Revelle Cafeteria and Ernie had to have them turn it down . I remember his sad story of George Winne Jr ., who set himself on fire on the Revelle Plaza to protest the Vietnam War , or the tidbit of who gave Roger Revelle his siren hat that he wore every year on his birthday .
Since his retirement , I had the opportunity to see Ernie many times . I know one of his favorite activities in

spring , where he would hand out the scholarships he had personally funded . Even in retirement , Ernie knew the importance of being involved outside of the classroom . If his scholarship could help others be involved , I know that brought him the most joy .
I know that I , along with many other students , will miss Dean Mort . Thank you , Ernie , for everything you did for me and others , and for Revelle College .”
