A little bit of past , present and future !
Triton ’ s managing editor , Malinda Danziger ’ 00 , has been a staff member at UC San Diego for nearly 15 years . “ It was great meeting with fellow alumni who work on campus as athletic coaches , staff and faculty . I learned that we all share an enormous sense of campus pride , but also a great responsibility to care for the next generation of Tritons .”
University writer Jade Griffin ’ 03 has written articles for Triton for more than a decade . In this issue , she profiled alumni jazz band The Mattson 2 . “ Jared and Jonathan Mattson are like family ; they were even ushers in my wedding . It ’ s exciting and gratifying to see the rest of the world discover their amazing talent . Success could not happen to better people .”
David Quarfoot , PhD ’ 15 , a notable cruciverbalist and professor of mathematics at UC San Diego , has long enjoyed the multidisciplinarity of life . “ Crossword construction lives at the intersection of language , wordplay , creativity , pop culture and mathematical thinking . It ’ s as much art as science .” This issue ’ s puzzle ( p . 45 ) honors that balance and adds a UC San Diego spin to the grid .
