SOUTH LAUREL HIGH SCHOOL
JACE BOWLING

MALE INSPIRATIONAL STORY OF THE YEAR
Jace Bowling knows a lot about overcoming adversity. Jace, who was adopted at the age of 5, was born with
physical limitations, including a hip disorder and leg amputation. Wearing a prosthetic limb didn’t stop Bowling
from competing and excelling in sports though, particularly basketball, and never hindered his determination
or allowed it to define him. Jace never allowed his disability to define him or stop him from accomplishing his
dreams, as he put in hard work on and off the court every single day and inspired his teammates to do the same.
Jace completed his senior season with the South Laurel boys basketball team where he finished the season with a
75 percent field-goal percentage. He was also named the 2020 Bluegrass Orthopaedics Champion earlier this year
which is awarded to someone who has overcome an injury or some type of adversity and have excelled in their
respective sports. Jace hopes that his story will help to inspire others with disabilities to keep working for what
they want.
