ABSTRACT:

Pandas are near-extinction and humans need to know the contributing factors to their extinction. These factors include low birth rates, their mismatch digestive system, predators, and, unfortunately humans. This research reveals the main contributing factor of panda near-extinction is a panda’s intuitive behavior and their inefficient low calorie meal plan which contributes to their low population rate.

INTRODUCTION:

There are diverse bear species around the world, but none as distinct as the panda species. This species lives a unique and bizarre lifestyle. They are not only a fascinating subject matter in ethology, which is the study of animal behavior, but also, the pandas’ decision making process is similar to human beings. Although pandas’ choices, including their eating habits, play a role in their endangerment, their choices are not the only ones that harm their lifestyles. Pandas are commonly found in the central China regions, where suitable bamboo forests are located. Although pandas are a very important in China, they are at risk of extinction and are listed as endangered in the World Conservation Union’s Red list of Threatened Species. The IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature, is a membership union that helps solve worldwide nature issues. The panda population continues to decrease leading to their near extinction, due to low birth rates, human deforestation, predators, and pandas’ digestive system. Pandas are not viewed as active contributors to society, yet they are responsible for spreading bamboo seeds. By conserving their species, we will save other unique species, such as dwarf blue sheep and the multi-colored pheasants.

AIM:

Pandas are near-extinction and the aim of this research is to inform humans of the factors contributing to their near-extinction.

METHOD:

This research is a literature review of the endangerment of pandas’ species. The community chosen for this topic is the continent of Asia.

Three peered reviewed journals were searched on the topic of the endangerment of pandas’ species in the continent of Asia using the ProQuest database.

RESULTS:

Research reveals the downfall and causes of the endangered species. Pavilion (2015) contributes valuable information about the various factors contributing to the panda’s endangerment. The digestive system and low birth rates of pandas are the major influences contributing to their extinction. Dwilson (2015) provides more details and facts about the low birth rate among pandas.
